Out West
A variety of locales reflecting the vastness of the scenery and subjects. The National Parks provide an endless supply of breathtaking spots which an artist can only aspire to do justice to. Memories of time spent in the mountains, lakes and streams are permanently recreated in water color.
East Rim, Grand Canyon
Portrayed by many artists, this structure is itself a recreation of the type of watchtowers built by the native people of this region centuries ago. I could only be as true to the existing structure and its spectacular surroundings as possible.

So many opportunities to capture potentially interesting compositions in this colorful and vibrant part of San Francisco when my eyes spotted this unusually decorated building.

San Francisco's Golden Gate Park
Tired of the same old panoramic scenes I wanted to zoom in and capture the beauty of fine details and color in a subject more often displayed in a larger format. This particular flower originated in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

The boys played in the water while I began a brief hike along the trail. It was then I thought: “Alone, what would I do if a bear suddenly appeared?” and cautiously retreated to the parking area. Later that night I overheard a conversation between two men about how “the girls were fine” after their walk around the lake was interrupted by the sighting of a bear cub as they neared the end of the path. Correctly taught to avoid the parent, they doubled back the way they came, it now taking twice the time to circumference the lake and sending parents and park rangers into a temporary panic. That could easily have been me.

Yosemite National Park, California
Frequently flooded or on fire this part of the Yellowstone Valley is beautiful and the opportunity to view it safely not to be taken for granted. Nature at its finest.

San Antonio, Texas
Thousands of visitors walk past this spot but none at this specific moment, on this particular day, allowing me to choose the few to be included in my work. The colorful umbrellas make this a frequent choice for artists.

Hoping for at best a bucolic farm scene we leisurely explored the grounds of the central California winery. I did not anticipate that my every move was being closely monitored by the barns in-house security, a Western Screech Owl.
