Glad you made it. Welcome to Meadowtree Farm Studios and the artwork of Richard Black which highlights the interplay between photography, drawing, painting and graphic art. Much of the work is based on my personal travels and appreciation of people, their places, and their things. Also featured are animals native to the areas I’ve visited

I hope you like the collection as much as I have enjoyed creating it through the years. The site itself will remain a work in progress as new pieces are added and new exciting collections introduced. Havana, Cuba
Upon seeing this painting James Hernandez, 1^st generation Cuban American and our guide for a subsequent trip in the Everglades, said: “My parents know this guy”. Apparently he has played at the same spot in Havana for many years. The world continues to shrink.

Indian Watch Tower

East Rim, Grand Canyon
Portrayed by many artists, this structure is itself a recreation of the type of watchtowers built by the native people of this region centuries ago. I could only be as true to the existing structure and its spectacular surroundings as possible.

Rugged Beauty

South Coast of Iceland
Thingvellir Church is one of the oldest buildings in Iceland, built in the early 11th century. The natural beauty of its immediate surroundings is depicted in stark contrast to the harsh upheaval created by the movement of two adjoining tectonic plates and the jagged volcanic rock on which it sits.

New England Greeting Cards

Artwork on a 15 oz. Sipping Mug

The latest addition to the Montreal series of water color paintings is appropriately entitled “Canadian Colors” and features maple trees in Parc Maisonneuve from this past fall season.

Just a reminder that this Thursday evening from 6-8 PM several of my favorite paintings will be featured at the Member's Invitational show at the South County Art Association. The work I've submitted will emphasize New England themes and represents watercolors completed over several decades. I also used the opportunity to sneak in a piece or two from other subject matter that still qualifies as a "chestnut". These are also some of my best sellers! Hope you can make it!
