Up North
A foreign country with a common language and shared history creates an inviting destination to return to time and again with an equally great variety of scenery and subjects to draw from. It's frequently in the timing: signs warn the casual visitor to be cautious on the beach at The Bay of Fundy so as not to be caught by the rapidly rising tide. A ferry can only operate when a boat can reach the dock leaving the traveler stranded with time to roam the waterfront, and the opportunity to search for that next painting.
Chadd's Ford, Pennsylvania
This bucolic scene is inspired by the location and adjoining structures, the Wyeth family estate and museum in Chadds Ford. My option was to ignore this cooperating local denizen or join the others on their way to the museum entrance who were only thinking of what had previously been captured on paper or canvas by a Wyeth rather than what could be.

New Brunswick, Canada
A classic New Brunswick scene not to be missed. Just don’t linger as the tides at the Bay of Fundy can be unforgiving.

Chicago, Illinois
On my only visit to Chicago I found myself wandering the Windy City using an artist’s prerogative to name the many boats I found in the river.

Banff, Alberta Canada
This was not the reason we selected this trail but I was glad I had, that the sun emerged from the clouds when it did, and that the piece seemed to compose itself.

Alberta Canada
A pretty Nat Geo photo caught my attention and I tried to be faithful to its subtle detail of the animal’s feathers.

Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick, Canada
A local fishing village along the New Brunswick coast was my influence for this work. Many similar spots can be discovered as you explore this part of Canada including the "Flower Pots" which served as the inspiration for another of my paintings.
Tyler Arboretum, Media, Pennsylvania
Spotted along a path at the Tyler Arboretum, located outside Philadelphia. This woodland creature seemed to be welcoming us to his home, hoping we might spare a few morsels to make his day.
