The Studio
"Become a doctor, then you can afford to be an artist". These unsolicited words of wisdom came from my father and eventually led to a 50 year limited hiatus from what might have matured into a career as a professional artist. With few regrets it is now my time to take advantage of the opportunity to further develop what might have been had I not chosen to follow my father's advice.
Having initially honed my skills on my mother's kitchen table, and later at Stony Brook University under the tutelage of Mel Pekarsky, a dedicated studio and gallery seems like a natural progression, the best way for me to come full circle on my father's advice. Early accomplishments such as awards from the Student Art League of New York, work which was featured at the Brooklyn Museum, and more recent shows at the Courthouse Center for the Arts in West Kingston, Rhode Island, gave me a taste for success and brought me a step closer to recognition of my work.
Through the years I've studied studio and gallery spaces and was once employed by Karl Mann Associates, an interior design firm in Manhattan which specialized in decorative art and antiquities. Experiences such as these helped me to develop a sense of presentation, public appeal, and for how an artist could nurture their success. The current gallery and studio is a reflection of these adventures.
